Graffoe Limousin Stud in the Upper South East of South Australia is based on the experience and advantage of 10 years running a commercial purebred Limousin herd and crossing them both ways with British breeds to see how they perform.
The females, both pure and crossbred, are most impressive, producing heavy MSA grading vealers for local butchers and Limousin-loving Hardwicks for their top Melbourne restaurant trade. We feel we can highly recommend using Limousins as terminal sires and as commercial breeding females with complete confidence. Our Limousin/Angus and Angus/Limousin crossbred females are particularly sought after as breeders.
Females with superior genetics have been obtained from some of the best herds in Australia. We were lucky enough to buy daughters of such great cows as White Lakes Exotic, White Lakes Goldie and Premier Cauliflower. We now have a herd of 50 registered cows and heifers and look forward to the future when we can offer their progeny for stud and commercial use.
Crossbreeding with Limousin has the advantage of increasing vealer weights through hybrid vigour but also improves dressing percentage (58-63%) and eating quality by refining texture.
